The type of personal information we collect
We currently collect and process the following information:
- Personal identifiers and contact details (such as your name, address, email address and telephone number).
- Details of your enquiry and transaction (such as the property, price, tenure, and any mortgage or scheme information you give us).
- Identity, verification and source-of-funds information, where this is required for the identity and anti-money-laundering checks we are legally required to carry out.
- Financial information relevant to your transaction.
- Technical data when you use our website, such as your IP address, browser type and how you use the site.
We only collect the information we need to provide our services and to meet our legal obligations.
How we get the personal information and why we have it
Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you, when you:
- make an enquiry or request a quote through our website, by email or by phone;
- instruct us to act on a property transaction; or
- send us documents and information during your matter.
We may also receive personal information indirectly, for example from your mortgage adviser or broker, estate agents, lenders, the other parties’ solicitors, and identity/anti-money-laundering verification providers.
We use the information that you give us in order to:
- respond to your enquiry and provide you with a quote;
- carry out the conveyancing and legal services you have instructed;
- carry out the identity and anti-money-laundering checks required by law;
- communicate with you and the other parties involved in your transaction; and
- keep records and meet our legal, regulatory and professional obligations.
We may share your information with: the solicitors’ firm Taylor Rose, through whom we provide regulated legal services; the other parties and their solicitors in your transaction; mortgage lenders and brokers; HM Land Registry; HM Revenue & Customs; search providers and identity/anti-money-laundering verification providers; and others where we are required to do so by law or regulation.
Under the UK GDPR, the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:
- Contract — to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and to perform the services you instruct us to carry out.
- Legal obligation — to comply with our legal and regulatory duties, including identity and anti-money-laundering checks and record-keeping.
- Legitimate interests — to respond to your enquiries and to administer and improve our business and services. You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Consent — where we rely on your consent (for example, to send you optional updates), you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us at info@ukpropertysolicitor.co.uk.
How we store your personal information
Your information is stored securely, on standard commercial infrastructure with appropriate technical and organisational measures in place. Any payment processing is handled by PCI-DSS compliant providers.
We keep your personal information only for as long as necessary for the purposes set out above. Where we have provided conveyancing services, we and Taylor Rose are generally required to retain your file for at least six years after completion of your matter, in line with our legal, regulatory and professional obligations. We then securely delete or dispose of it.

Under data protection law, you have rights including:
- Your right of access — you have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.
